Position
We are seeking an entry-level Hydrogeologist to join our growing team supporting hydrogeologic investigations for mining projects. This position is ideal for someone early in their career who is interested in gaining hands-on field experience while developing technical skills in groundwater characterization, data analysis, and hydrogeologic conceptual model development.
The role will involve significant field work at active and developing mine sites throughout the western United States. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors, be comfortable in remote environments, and be interested in learning how hydrogeology supports mine planning, water management, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with hydrogeologic field investigations and site characterization programs
- Support and oversee drilling programs including geologic logging, hydraulic testing, and data collection
- Install monitoring wells and piezometers
- Conduct groundwater and surface water sampling
- Perform aquifer testing and water level monitoring
- Maintain accurate field notes and data records
- Comply with all health and safety requirements
- Assist with data processing, interpretation, and reporting
- Support development of hydrogeologic conceptual models and numerical groundwater models
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field
- 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships or field experience a plus)
- Strong interest in field-based hydrogeology
- Willingness to travel and work extended field rotations
- Ability to work in rugged outdoor environments and active mine sites
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; no need for visa sponsorship
Preferred Skills
- Experience with groundwater sampling or drilling programs
- Familiarity with hydrogeologic data analysis or groundwater modeling
- Experience with field instrumentation (water level meters, pumps, dataloggers, etc.)
- Microsoft Office, GIS, and basic data management skills
- Strong technical writing skills are required, including the ability to clearly document field observations, interpret hydrogeologic data, and prepare concise technical reports
